If a game is made it will sell?

February 7, 2007

I was thinking. Yup I was. See there is no way to tell if something you put your time into will sell. But, I do it anyway. I am coding my second game now even before the first one has all its content ready for release. I figure that if I make them they will sell. This might not be the case, and in fact might just waste my time. But, one thing is certain, if I don’t make them they will not sell.

This keeps me going and enjoying what I do. I really cannot wait to release some of my ideas to the public and if it sells two copies it will be well worth the fun of doing it all. I guess I just look at my one-man crew of game making wackiness as a true way for me to give it a shot. I may never make the next DOOM or make one million dollars at game making, but that is not certain as long as I try. We should all be trying to create and make whatever we know and love.

Where Does PC Gaming Go From Here?

January 26, 2007

Ok the state of PC gaming is not good. We all basically know that. It has surely seen better days. How can we get PC gaming back to what it was? Are we ever going to see that again?

Here is one plus to PCs, anyone can write software for a PC. This is a tool that Indy Game Developers should realise nothing else has. You cannot turn the Wii on and program the next best thing for it. The PS3 has no possible way for two young guys in a basement to come up with the next DOOM revolution. The PC has potential, it just lost its creativity.

People who can program need to stay with the PC and try and get back what it once had. There was a time where I hated consoles and just played computer games. They had the best games. The consoles stood no chance. What is a good plan to bring computer gaming back like the Wii is bringing back nintendo? This is just one of the things I am trying to figure out how to bring to PC gamers. We need the good creative games back. We need creative new developers on PCs. Remember nearly every household has a computer, why are they not playing games on them anymore?

It’s official for me, The Wii is the Best.

January 24, 2007

The wii is the greatest console ever. Yup I said it, EVER. The wii not only delivers slightly disturbing content to you but it does it in such a way that you smile and giggle like a 5 year old the whole time.

Ever since my father-in-law “found my Wii” I have been in a blissfully happy game playing frenzy. First you try Wii sports and play that for hours on end, then you pick up Zelda and get into its epic plot and crazyly good controls. Then if you are feeling really brave you get Wario Ware. Nothing is more strange, erotic, and disturbingly entertaining. You will not be able to wipe the grin off your face after the first controller position dialog from mr. porn voice.

I swear the Wii is the only thing that has gotten me to grin and giggle since somebody saying poopy in elementary school. Ok I am degrading fast but it is just what the Wii does. It makes everything more fun. Plus it gives you a good reason to tell your Grandma… “I’m gonna play with my Wii now.”

What Was Sony Thinking?

January 21, 2007

Well, today I went to a video game store and Wal-Mart. It was interesting to see what I found. The game store had 5 Play Station 3 consoles in stock and 0 wii consoles. It also was sold out of several wii games and had no wii remotes in stock at all. The store did have many PS3 controllers and games out the ying yang.

Now Wal-Mart was no different. No wii’s to be found and plenty of PS3s. What was Sony thinking? Did they just get big headed and beleive they were unstoppable? Did they just make a calculated error? What did they do?

I think they got too used to being on top and Nintendo got smart. Sony did not think twice about the price and partnering up with new tech that probably won’t make it. They were way too comfortable in their soft plush chair on top. They did not continue to work at advancement of the brand name. Nintendo on the other hand new they needed to hit a homer now or die. So they essentially swapped spots with Sony.

I believe Sony’s blunder put the console war as follows, Nintendo number one, Microsoft two, sony negative thirty. Sony needs to fight back like a bear in a trap or live the life of SEGA. Good luck Sony, and thank you Nintendo for making such a fun and strange machine.
